Research interests

Dr. F.G. Schaafsma is an occupational health physician and senior researcher at the Amsterdam Public Health research institute of Amsterdam UMC. Her research focuses on the needs of workers in different economic and industrial sectors to lead a healthy and sustainable working life, including those with a chronic disease. She also studies the cost- and effectiveness of interventions promoting return to work for workers on sick leave or long term work disability due to physical or mental health problems. An important focus of her work are (Cochrane) systematic reviews dealing with intervention or prognostic studies relevant for occupational health care.
