Research interests

Dr. Jonkman is assistant professor at the Amsterdam UMC - location VUmc Clinical Neuroanatomy team. Her research focus is to translate post-mortem MRI signatures of neuropathology to the clinical setting. She currently supervises three PhD students. 

Dr. Jonkman is developing herself as an expert on post-mortem MRI and pathology studies in neurodegenerative disease. She recently published on early MRI network markers of pathological change in Neurology journal. In 2018 she received the Alzheimer Association Research Fellowship (AARF) to investigate the influence of histological markers on the AD structural network. In 2019 he received a Michael J Fox Foundation grant (Co-PI) to study the relationship between MRI and pathology in Parkinson’s disease. With sevral excellent collaborations, she hopes to broaden the search for clinically relevant, pathology-specific imaging biomarkers in neurodegenerative disease.
