Abstract
Pain measurement in the nursing home is important, because when adequate actions are taken, it can improve the quality of life and prevent morbidity. The VDS and VAS, allthough they are unidimentional instruments, the most widely used measurement instruments. The MCGill Pain questionaire is the obvious instrument for non-malignant pain, the BPI for malignant pain. For patients with hampered communication skills the most obvious are DOLOPLUS2 or the PACSALC.
