Abstract

Activation of μ receptors by DAGO resulted in inhibition of cortical noradrenaline release and striatal dopamine-sensitive adenylate cyclase (AC) activity as early as gestational day 17 (E17). The κ agonist U50,488 had already inhibited striatal dopamine release on E17. In contrast, functional δ receptors emerged postnatally, mediating inhibition of striatal acetylcholine release on postnatal day 7 (P7) and of AC activity on P14.
