Abstract
The patient metal worker with mucosal complaints (rhinitis) benefits from a good diagnosis. Exposure to metals such as chromium, cobalt, nickel and platinum can cause a type 1 allergy and therefore mucosal complaints and asthma. Workers with allergies and serious complaints will not be able to continue working in the relevant department. They have contracted an occupational disease and may have to look for other work. If a worker has complaints as a result of exposure to irritating substances, there are solutions for this by reducing the exposure according to the occupational health strategy. Type I research in the event of a suspected metal allergy is custom work that can often only be carried out in centers of expertise. There, specific dilution series can be made from the suspect metals.
