Abstract

An ultra-high speed spectral domain optical coherence tomography system was developed to obtain in vivo images of a human retina at a depth profile acquisition speed of 29.3 kHz with a 99% duty cycle and an axial resolution of 5.1 µm in tissue. Continuous data acquisition was achieved at 29 frames per second with 1000 depth profile per image. 3D data sets of the fovea and optic nerve head were acquired over a time of 10 and 12 seconds respectively. A 3-D volume of the optic nerve head was constructed from the data acquired and the retinal vascular network was visualized.
